Hi all!

Elephant in the room: just wondering when we can expect an update to address Mac OS after 10.10. It's been well over TWO YEARS since 10.10 was superseded - although I understand that development takes time, are there any plans to address this problem rather than the current answer of "we only support up to 10.10".

It's all well and good to only 'support that' but I've had new laptops come into my workplace in the meantime and I either have to put up with bugs in Clarity, or put up with bugs/staying on older versions of other software to keep my machines on 10.10. It is not reasonable to expect your loyal, paid up, userbase to stay on an old OS version indefinitely.

Any thoughts?

We are still working on a fix, it is just taking forever.

We are very annoyed that it is taking so long, but it is a lot of tricky work, and it involves working with Apple, and it all takes a lot of time.

Ditto on this. I have piles of Macs at my disposal to run Clarity on as a safety backup to my PC.... but they're all unusable. Even with 10.10 on them they are unusable as I would then have to downgrade the firmware on my VX wing and then possibly upgrade it to work again with my PC. I know this must be causing you grief, but currently I consider Clarity to be Windows-only software.

With this issue going for an unreasonably extended period of time and no new reply to this post, it seems like LSC considers it PC only software too...

There is still work happening on Mac in the background - and the new Mac OS as well that will need consideration. All Mac users think that this should be an easy fix, but there is a reason why most other major lighting console suppliers (eg Hog, MA) do not provide any working MAC version whatsoever (as you say PC only software).
clambke - use 1.15 firmware on your wing and it will operate both MAC and PC
singegill - I appreciate your frustration but please understand that this delay is not due to LSC ignoring the issue. The problem is very complex as demonstrated by the lack of other lighting platforms offering even any MAC versions.

Update:

We have employed a specialist developer to write a new Mac USB interface from scratch. They have been on the task for the last 6 months, and just last week they presented us with a Beta version of the new driver for testing.

It works (perfect DMX and no LCD screen corruption) but there are still quite a few bugs to be fixed. Then we have to merge it into Clarity and then we have to get it Apple approved.

The REALLY good news is that it also works with Mojave :-)

There is still a lot of work ahead of us, and it will be many months before it is released, but we are well and truly on the way to a proper solution.
