The maXim USB interface was created many years ago, when an average USB stick was <128MB in capacity.

The current generation of 8GB and larger USB sticks can cause problems for the maXim, usually seen as it taking many minutes to save or load a show.

The simple solution is to create a separate partition of the USB stick of <1GB and make this the primary partition. Format it as FAT (FAT16) and the performance and reliability will increase dramatically.
