I'd like to be able to control the cue faders via OSC. Is this possible? If so, which command can I use to do it?

On a related note, is there a full list of OSC commands available in LSC Clarity. I know other manufactures publish this, but I can't seem to find one for LSC Clarity.

Thanks in advanced!

We are working on the list of commands, they should appear in the next revision of the user manual.

At the moment the cue faders are NOT able to be controlled via OSC, just the Go,Back and Release actions for a cuelist.

Hey LSC TechSupport,

When will be seeing more OSC support with a list of commands? I seriously can't wait because my control booth is positioned incredibly awkward and I got stand on a chair to see what I am moving from time to time.

Anyways, great software!

Sorry we have not updated this post.

This feature was added in the last software release (v2.3) back in Feb this year.

Download the latest user manual and look in section 34.3 for the new commands and full details on how to use them.

FYI - Here they are :

34.3 CONTROLLING CLARITY FROM AN OSC CLIENT
Clarity can be directly controlled by a remote device such as a show controller. The device acts
as an OSC client that sends messages (listed below) to Clarity.
To receive OSC messages you must enable the OSC server inside Clarity as described above
(section 34.2.2) and use a client to send the messages.
The OSC messages that Clarity responds to are:
/cuelist/go {cuelist name}
/cuelist/go {cuelist name} {cue number}
/cuelist/pauseback {cuelist name}
/cuelist/skipnext {cuelist name}
/cuelist/skipprev {cuelist name}
/cuelist/release {cuelist name}
/cuelist/setflash {cuelist name} {boolean}
/cuelist/setfader {cuelist name} {0.0 ... 1.0}
/setgrandmaster {0.0 ... 1.0}
/setdbo {boolean}
/releaseall
{cuelist name} can include wildcards, and is case-insensitive. If it matches more than one
cuelist then all cuelists will be affected.
For example you can send /setfader "*" 1.0 to set all faders to full.
Setflash only works for cuelists that are assigned to a VX wing or LX console playback.

Hi Richie,

I've been playing more with all these OSC commands, but are having trouble with the cuelist-specific commands in Clarity v2.4 (Mac - no physical hardware attached at the moment).

I've created a push button with the following OSC command: /cuelist/go "*"

This command does nothing.

I've also tried creating a fader with this command: /cuelist/setfader "*"

Again it does nothing.

I'm using the default iPhone template as a starting point, and all the inbuilt buttons work correctly.

I've also created a fader with the command /setgrandmaster and this also works fine.

Would you mind taking a look and letting me know what I'm doing wrong?

Are you using TouchOSC?

If so there is a bug in the current version, where it corrupts the OSC messages, so Clarity never sees them.

Hi Richie,

Yes, I'm using TouchOSC. Thanks for looking into it.

Do you know if the developer of TouchOSC has an ETA on a bugfix?

I've written a basic translator for my MIDI Control Surface (Behringer BCF 2000) to control Clarity cue list faders, go & release. It's perfect for small jobs where it's not practical to rent a wing/console, and I need to simply ride the intensity faders.

If anyone is interested, the code is available here: https://github.com/a...ty-MIDI-Control

I was wondering if it was possible, Richie, to make Clarity output feedback via OSC - essentially pushing back those same commands/values whenever something internally changes in Clarity? This would allow me to mirror the fader states in Clarity onto the physical hardware. From my reading of the manual, it's not implemented - but perhaps you know of a way?

In addition to the OSC 'feedback', it'd also be cool if we had a way to control group masters via OSC. This command would need to accept a 'Group Name', Master Type, and fader value.

Hi Anthony,

We do not support bi-directional communications for this, as part of the financial plan for Clarity relies on us selling our VX wings. If we don't sell wings then we cannot continue to pay for the software development.

This is also why we do not support direct MIDI mapping to 3rd party hardware.

Hey,

Totally understand, and that's fine - we all need to make a living somehow. Have you considered releasing VX wings with motorised faders? That's probably the big thing stopping me from buying one.

Yes we have. The cost is very high, but we would love to do it.
