I was wondering if anyone else had problems with patching a 31 channel J-Rag fixture and trying to grab each dimmer individually to spell stuff. I had to go into the intensities window and grab them each individually there. The problem I had there was I could not copy and paste from one fixture to the next. Another way of doing it is setting the J-Rag in 25 Channel mode and patching dimmer channels instead of a J-Rag. I then went into lay out and put all dimmers in a lay out like a J-Rag and went from there. Is there any simpler way or better way to go about this? Has any one else had this problem? Looking forward to hearing from everyone.

All the best,
Quiz

Hi Quiz,

There is a 6channel Jarag template in the library that you can use with 25 dimmer channels to get a good compromise of control and features.

Can I ask why you are trying to select individual cells. Is it just to make letters, or are there other uses. Would it help if we added text to the Pixel Mapping engine, or do you want to be able to do other patterns as well?

I would love a text edit feature. I want to be able to write things in J-Rags and then chase them or scroll them across or down. I also like to to the letter scramble thing. I also like to be able to some more specific chases but I can not grab individual cells without going into the intensity feature and then you can't get out of it want I want. I have just been patching dimmer channels and putting J-Rags in 25 channel mode. It just seems to be the fastest for me until something comes out in the matrix window.

I was thinking about if there was a text edit feature in the matrix would be nice but I think if I was able to grab individual cells in the Rig view would be better. I want to do letters and other designs and effects building.

So lets do this as a Feature Request.

Who else wants the ability to select individual cells of a compound fixture inside RigView?

I found out on the JaRag if you go to the fixture in rig view and right click on each cell it works to grab each cell. The bad thing is if you grabbed one by accident and you hit clear it clears out everything you have done.
