Here is the latest HASP driver for the Mac OS X Lion operating system.

This is required to use the licensed version of Clarity on a Mac running the new Lion operating system.

Simply download and run the installer AFTER you have installed Clarity.

Once installed it will automatically find the HASP dongle and Clarity will function as normal.

Hey Richie,
Does LSC now endorse MAC OS X Lion as a supported OS for Clarity? or is it still best not to upgrade just yet?
Thanks
Mike

We are always over cautious about these things, so if you can avoid upgrading then it is best to stay with 10.6.x for the moment.

There is the possibility of a compatibility issue with Clarity and one of the new features in OS X Lion. We have not found any yet, despite extensive testing, but our normal method is to get our team of Beta testers to use it for a few months before we fully approve it. At the moment it has been just over one month of testing, so we just need a bit more time before we approve it.

However there are a number of users who have purchased the new MiniMac computers and they cannot use anything but Lion (as 10.6,x does not support the new video card). So this driver is for them to use.

Hi

I am afraid this HASP driver doesn't seem to work on my very old MacBook Pro (2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU) running Lion (10.7.2). Due to previous issues I uninstalled Clarity and the HASP driver, then installed Clarity (1.4) then the new HASP driver. But I can't "see" the dongle in Clarity. In Safari http://localhost:1947 returns a server not found error.

I understand that Lion is not really supported, but I thought you might be interested anyway.

Hi Ben,

We would like to solve this issue, as we want to fully support Lion.

So could we please ask you to give us some help and work through this issue with the 3rd party company who provide the HASP device to us.

lf you are willing to help then please send me a message via this forum and I will contact you directly.

Sorry this took so long! The problem persists in the 1.4.2 release. Do please contact me directly. I'd like to help and I'd like to get this sorted.
All the best

Hi Ben,

No it is definitely fixed in the v1.4.2 release, as we have a number of other users for whom it works perfectly. So it may be something with your machine. Are you the guy whose machine Sam and I played with in Brisbane at the BSG Open Night last year?

Nope! I haven't been near Brisbane for a couple of years, sadly... I am based in Munich. I am the guy Richie(?) met at LMP in Germany for the post-Plasa Clarity console preview. He suggested I contact the Safenet directly for help, which I did. They sent me some more drivers, but they didn't work either, after which they seemed to lose interest in me! I must follow them up again.

In the meantime I have purchased a spanking new MacBook Pro (Late 2011 model) with as much Ram, disk-space and screen as I could afford and everything is working fine!

So I guess it really is an issue with my old MacBook Pro - Late 2006 model.

All the best
Ben

Hi Ben,

OK now my memory is clearer.

There are now two separate reports of the HASP driver not working with Lion on older MacBook computers.

It is definitely an issue with the 3rd party HASP dongle driver and we are trying to get answers out of the manufacturer (SafeNet), but at the moment there is no solution sorry. We will continue to work with SafeNet for a future fix.

Glad you could afford a new MacBook, for you and for Clarity :-)
